24/7 Spine Emergency Support for acute spinal trauma, cord compression, and severe radiculopathy

2

Rapid Triage Protocols for suspected cauda equina syndrome, spinal cord compression, and acute disc herniation

3

Advanced Spinal Imaging — MRI (including dynamic and weight-bearing sequences), CT, digital X-ray, and DEXA bone density assessment

4

Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery (MISS) for reduced operative trauma and faster recovery

5

Spinal Decompression and Instrumented Fusion Procedures

6

Integrated Care Pathways with orthopaedic neurology, interventional pain medicine, and physiotherapy

7

Multidisciplinary Spine Conferences for complex or high-risk cases

Integrated Spine Care Model

The Spine Unit operates within PB Health's broader Orthopaedics department, following a coordinated, multidisciplinary care model. Orthopaedic spine surgeons collaborate with neurologists, interventional pain specialists, radiologists, physiotherapists, and rehabilitation physicians to evaluate each case comprehensively.

Every patient receives an individually tailored management plan, progressing from conservative orthopaedic care and pain modulation through to minimally invasive procedures or open surgery as clinically required, followed by structured rehabilitation.

Clinical Focus Areas

  • Cervical, thoracic, and lumbar disc prolapse (herniated nucleus pulposus)
  • Lumbar and cervical spinal canal stenosis
  • Axial neck pain and mechanical low back pain
  • Radiculopathy — sciatica, cervicobrachialgia, and neurogenic claudication
  • Spinal fractures — vertebral compression fractures, burst fractures, and traumatic dislocations
  • Spinal deformity — adolescent idiopathic scoliosis, adult degenerative scoliosis, and kyphosis
  • Spondylolisthesis and segmental spinal instability
  • Pyogenic and tuberculous spinal infections (spondylodiscitis)
  • Primary and metastatic spinal tumours
  • Osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures
  • Failed back surgery syndrome (FBSS)
