Anaesthesiology

Comprehensive anaesthesia care from preoperative evaluation to post-surgical recovery.

About Department

Anaesthesiology at PB Health is a precision-driven perioperative speciality designed to deliver safe, individualised, and physiologically optimised anaesthetic care across the full surgical journey. The department combines advanced monitoring technology, evidence-based protocols, and sub-speciality expertise to manage patients undergoing routine, complex, and high-risk procedures.

Core Capabilities

1

24/7 Anaesthesia Coverage across operating rooms, obstetric suites, interventional labs, and emergency theatres

2

Comprehensive Pre-Anaesthetic Evaluation (PAC) Clinics for risk stratification and preoperative optimisation

3

Advanced Intraoperative Monitoring including invasive haemodynamics, depth-of-anaesthesia, and neuromuscular monitoring

4

Ultrasound-Guided Regional Anaesthesia (USGRA) for precision nerve blocks and opioid-sparing analgesia

5

Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) for airway assessment, vascular access, and cardiac evaluation at the bedside

6

Difficult Airway Management Infrastructure with video laryngoscopy, fibreoptic intubation, and emergency airway algorithms

7

Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) Protocols integrated across surgical specialities

8

Acute & Chronic Pain Management Services, including epidural analgesia, patient-controlled analgesia (PCA), and interventional pain procedures

9

Post-Anaesthesia Care Unit (PACU) with continuous monitoring and structured recovery pathways

Integrated Care Model

Our Anaesthesiology Department operates on an integrated perioperative care model, in which anaesthesiologists, surgeons, intensivists, and allied speciality teams function in close coordination across every phase of the surgical journey. This shared-care approach is aligned with the global Perioperative Surgical Home (PSH) framework, ensuring continuity from preoperative assessment through intraoperative management to postoperative recovery.

Every case is managed through a structured perioperative pathway, with anaesthesiologists leading risk evaluation, optimisation, and intraoperative decision-making to ensure that each patient receives an individualised plan suited to their physiology, comorbidities, and surgical complexity.

Clinical Focus Areas

  • General anaesthesia for elective and emergency surgical procedures
  • Regional and neuraxial anaesthesia, including spinal, epidural, and peripheral nerve blocks
  • Obstetric anaesthesia, including labour analgesia and caesarean section management
  • Paediatric anaesthesia for neonates, infants, and children
  • Cardiac, thoracic, and vascular anaesthesia for high-risk surgical cases
  • Neuroanaesthesia for intracranial, spinal, and neurointerventional procedures
  • Sedation and anaesthesia for diagnostic and interventional procedures outside the operating room
  • Acute and chronic pain management
  • Critical care and resuscitation support

What To Expect Under Our Anaesthesia Care

A dedicated pre-anaesthetic evaluation reviews your medical history, medications, tests, and surgical risk before the procedure.
