What is CT Angiography Any One Part
A CT angiogram is a detailed scan that maps the blood vessels in one specific region of your body, such as the neck, chest, abdomen, kidneys or limbs. A contrast dye is injected through a small cannula in your arm, and as it travels through your bloodstream the CT scanner captures rapid, thin-slice images that a computer reconstructs into clear three-dimensional pictures of your arteries and veins. Your doctor may request this scan to look for narrowing or blockage of a vessel, a bulge in an artery wall known as an aneurysm, a clot, a tear, abnormal vessel connections, or bleeding. It is far less invasive than conventional catheter angiography, requires no hospital admission and is usually completed within minutes, while still providing the precise detail needed to plan medication, surgery or stenting
