Lipase is an enzyme produced almost exclusively from pancreatic acinar cells.

What is this test?

Pancreatic injury increases Serum lipase levels. In Pancreatitis, it rises almost at the same time as amylase (4-8 Hrs) but the elevation lasts much longer (7-10 days) as compared to amylase.
