This is an early HIV detection profile designed for individuals older than two years, combining tests that detect both antibodies and viral components to identify infection as early as possible after exposure.

What is this test?

Detecting HIV early is extremely important because starting antiretroviral therapy promptly preserves immune function, prevents opportunistic infections and long-term complications, and reduces the risk of transmitting the virus to sexual partners to essentially zero when the virus is fully suppressed. The profile is used after known or suspected exposure, in people with symptoms of acute HIV infection, and in routine screening.
